Issues & Options Consultation – 18th September to 30th October 2013

The Plan Area covers the civil parishes of Morpeth, Pegswood, Hebron, Hepscott and Mitford and this consultation assesses the issues facing the area and a range of possible options for addressing these.  The outcome of this consultation will inform the preparation of our draft Neighbourhood Plan next Spring (2014).

You can read the main Consolidated Report by clicking here.  This main report will be emailed to all statutory consultees and key stakeholders.

The Technical Reports, compiled by the volunteer-led Topic Groups are the Evidence page and also on the Topic page.

Issues covered in the “Issues & Options” consultation include where new housing development should go and the implications for schools, traffic and the sewage network? How Pegswood could and should be developed?  How we can minimise or better reduce flood risk?  And much more ….

The consultation ran through to 30th October 2013 and we were looking for feedback from a fair proportion of the organisations based and the 20,000 people living in the Plan Area.  If you are part of a group or organisation and you would like someone to come and talk to you about the Plan, just get in touch.

The Issues & Options stage doesn’t set out preferred options or any detailed proposals, it’s more a check that the volunteers who have worked in the Topic Groups have identified the issues that need to be addressed, and to get feedback on options or initial ideas.

Throughout November, we analysed your responses and we will use them to start developing the proposals and policies that will go together to form the draft Neighbourhood Plan.  If all goes well, we will publish and consult on that sometime next Spring.

After that, and an Independent Examination to make sure it does not run contrary to the Northumberland Plan or national guidance, everyone in the Plan Area will be able to vote in a referendum on the Plan, and if it is adopted then it will be used by the County Council planning committee to assess planning applications for the next 15-20 years.

Electronic and paper copies of all the documents and questionnaires are available upon request.  If you would like a copy of these, more information or have any questions or queries, you can call Morpeth Town Council 01670 514314 or email
